Central Livestock Association 2009 Annual Meeting Results
SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - Central Livestock held its Annual Meeting on March 24-25, 2009 at the Hilton hotel in Bloomington, Minn. This marked the first year of a national, joint CRI Annual Meeting with delegates in attendance from Genex, AgSource, and Central Livestock. This also marked the first year of a two-day format, with the first day consisting of educational sessions and speakers, and the second day consisting of business meetings.
There were many governance changes this year for Central Livestock. Central Livestock is now broken down into six districts in the five state area. There are six regional directors, and three at-large directors. Region 1, Bill Bertram, Valley City, N.D., President; Region 2, Morris Carlson, Sandstone, Minn.; Region 3, Brian Brix, Albany, Minn., 1st Vice President; Region 4, David Krueger, Hastings, Minn., Secretary; Region 5, Tim Sanborn, Mazeppa, Minn.; Region 6, Larry Traun, Durand, Wis.; At Large, Keith Johnson, Sharon, N.D., 2nd Vice President; At Large, Darrel Sogn, Hudson, S.D.; At Large, Harlin Hecht, Paynesville, Minn.
Richard Creaser of Menomonie, Wis. retired after serving on the Board of Directors for 14 years, President for one year, and served as a CRI Director. Mark LeGare of Layfayette, Minn. retired after serving on the Board of Directors for six years. Central Livestock thanks Richard and Mark for their dedication to the Board of Directors.
The two new director positions were filled by Tim Sanborn and Harlin Hecht. Sanborn farms full time with his family in Mazeppa, Minn.; his operation includes beef cow/calf, back grounding lot, hogs and crops. Hecht owns and operates Double-H Charolais farm in Paynesville, Minn., one of the top Charolais seed stock operations in the country. Both have been long time Central Livestock delegates, and market their livestock through Central Livestock branches.
The purpose of Central Livestock Association is to assist livestock producers in production and marketing by providing competitive prices, superior service and broader outlets through a profitable and innovative organization. Central Livestock has four livestock auction markets, located in Rock Creek, Albany and Zumbrota, Minn., West Fargo, N.D. and a commission firm at the Sioux Falls Stockyards, Sioux Falls, S.D. Corporate headquarters are in South St. Paul, Minn.
