Dear Central Livestock Customer,

After several years of planning by your Central Livestock Association Board and Management team, the South St. Paul transition plan has come true.  Central Livestock's South St. Paul Market will close in April, including a final feeder cattle sale and celebration, to be held on April 11.  Along with the special sale, Central Livestock will honor livestock truckers with the Pioneer Shipper Awards. Select Central Livestock memorabilia items will be auctioned off by Celebrity Auctioneers with ALL proceeds going towards the CLA Foundation Scholarship fund. There will be several historical items for sale and as giveaway items.

Guided walking and golf cart tours will be available throughout the morning every 30 minutes. The Beef Checkoff sponsored Beef Mobile will be onsite throughout the day with beef samples, trivia wheel with door prizes, and beef information. Governor Pawlenty is expected to attend, and may even be a celebrity auctioneer. Lunch will be provided by the Stockyards BS Café. The groundbreaking of the new property will be held later in the day.  Plan on attending the "Ending of an Era," the closing of the South Saint Paul Stockyards on April 11, 2008 for a full day of events and history.

You can find the modified and expanded livestock sales schedules for our Zumbrota and Albany markets on the website.  We have particularly expanded the Zumbrota schedule, to offer more sale opportunities each week for most classes of livestock.  We want you, our customers, to be in the driver's seat to choose your days to market your livestock, while still attempting to generate enough volume on any given day to entice strong buyer support.  The new Zumbrota schedule goes into effect beginning April 14th.

If you are a customer of South St. Paul, you may have never attended a sale at Zumbrota or Albany.  Please come for a visit, and give us a try.  If you would like to come and watch a sale, or receive a facility tour, please call Kevin at Zumbrota (877-732-7305) or Greg in Albany (800-733-6828).  Our staff at both locations are eager to handle all of your livestock marketing needs, and would be happy to assist you in any way possible.  If you have questions about livestock trucking needs, Kevin, Greg, or Bob Young will happily refer you to someone.

Your Central Livestock staff is here to provide a wide variety of livestock marketing and price protection products.  I also want to remind you that we offer livestock handling equipment, gates, bunks, boots, tags, etc. at the Stockman's Supply farm store, located at the CLA Zumbrota Market.  That phone number is 507-732-7860.  We can also deliver larger items to your farm or ranch.

We appreciate your patronage, and look forward to continuing to serve your livestock marketing needs.
